First off, I have been accessing BBSs since I was 13. They were free lacal alternatives to the Internet. They provide you with eMail, chat, and access to a ton of files. |
A BBS (Bulletin Board System) is a computer with a modem and dedicated phone line(s). You dial their computer with a terminal program, and their computer answers giving you a login screen. Once you have have loged in, a menu of command comes up. Common BBS features (you will find on the command menu) are mail, files access, games, chat, and sometimes internet. Some have many more features depending on the BBS. You can find these out from my BBS list. For more information about BBSs click here. |
